Robert Victor Koby

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow Rock Island National Cemetery, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 246, Moline. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus, Galesburg, IL.

Robert was born on April 10, 1930 in Lebanon, MO, the son of Victor James and Helen Marie (Kleiner) Koby. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Navy. He married Mary Lou Waters on October 10, 1953 in Missouri. She preceded him in death. He later married Veronica “Ronnie” Naab. She preceded him in death in February of 1997.

Robert worked for Ralston-Purina in Davenport for 34 years, retiring in 1993. He had been a member of the former St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island, and most recently attended St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Wataga, IL. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

Survivors (and spouses) include his children, Tim (Linda) Koby, Moline, Dennis (Karen) Koby, Lynn Center, IL, Pam Koby, Davenport, IA; stepchildren, Charles (Cara) Banks, Rock Island, Cathy (Scott) Stablein, Oak Run, Bill Banks, Oak Run, and Ann Banks, Williamsfield, IL; daughter-in-law, Gail Koby, Silvis; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

His parents, wives, a son, Steve Koby, and a sister, Alice Keine, preceded Mr. Koby in death.
