Charles Thomas Cron Jr. was born to eternity 12/05/2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Charles was born in Rockford, Illinois on November 12, 1962 to Charles Thomas Cron Sr. and Barbara Mae Christiansen (Bunting).
Charles grew up in Rockford Illinois. Attended Rockford West High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. After his military service, Charles returned to Rockford for a short period of time then relocated to Tennessee. Charles worked in the food processing industry, most recently at Sara Lee Food Manufacturing Company.
Charles shared his passion for NASCAR with his Stepfather James. He was an avid college football and Tennessee Titans fan. He enjoyed reading a good book, cooking and debating anything under the sun. He had an adventurous nature, he would try anything once. Charles always had a wonderful sense of humor, not even his illness could diminish it.
Survivors include, his mother Barbara Christiansen, stepfather James Christiansen, daughter Melinda Zimmerman, son Kevin Ellis Cron, grandsons Elijah and Ezekiel (Melinda's sons), sisters Candice (Kenneth) Bryant III, Jane (Steven) Bird, Tamara (Patrick) Sullivan. Stepsiblings Timothy Christiansen, Paula (Jason) Rogers, Tonya (Bob) Eastlick, Brody (Karen) Christiansen. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Also survived by lifelong friend Karen Newbery.
Charles was preceded in death by his father Charles T. Cron Sr., Paternal, Maternal and Step-grandparents. Niece Rebekah Jo Cron and Stepbrother Gary L. Christiansen.
Charles family would like to thank the Covenant Care Hospice Staff for all the love and care they gave not only to Charles but to our family as well.
Memorial Service to be held at the Family Bible Fellowship located at 3015 Ridge Ave, Rockford, IL on 12/16/2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jeff Peterson. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Private interment at Willwood Burial Park.
The Family was assisted by Gentry-Griffey Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Knoxville TN. and Willwood Burial Park Rockford, IL. Cremation rights were accorded.
