Ada M. Cortner was a precious servant of the Lord. She was a loving and adoring wife and mother of Carl Cortner and her daughter, Carla. Ada was an organist, pianist, and church musician for over 55 years in the Melbourne area. She served the Lord in music at many churches, notably St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Satellite Methodist Church, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, and most recently at Church of the Open Door in Cocoa. She was an inspiring leader and teacher and loved to bring glory to God through her playing, singing, teacher, and leading choirs.
She also worked with her husband Carl for many years in his construction business and also worked at Cape Kennedy in the early 60’s during the beginning of the space program.
Born to Albert and Edna Oyer, Ada grew up in Bluffton, Ohio. She is predeceased by her sisters, Magdeline and Lois. She married Carl, her husband in 1958 and moved to Florida.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Carla and Mitch McGowan; her niece, Lori Butters, and her nephews, Tom and David Suter and Jeff Glendening.
Ada always had a spirit of excellence about everything she did. She was genuinely interested in and cared deeply about people. She impacted so many people’s lives and was a blessing wherever she went.
She will always and forever be in our hearts.
