Ada Jean Lacy

Ada Jean Barnes died on August 24, 2026 at her home in Melbourne, Florida. She was 82 years old. Her husband, Edward Barnes, was with her when she took her last breath. Saint Francis Reflection Hospice Professionals were notified and a care nurse came out to confirm her death.

She was born to J.R. and Virginia Pearl Beall in Fort Smith, Arkansas on February 21, 1944. The oldest child of two children through the union of their parents.

She married Lawrence Franklin Smith and together they gave birth to Lisa Marie Smith, Carolyn Smith and William Smith. After high school, She and her husband moved to Germany to start their lives together being that he was an officer in the United States Military.

She later married Malcolm Lacy whom she had met in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The two married and moved to Palm Bay, Florida where they spent 40 years together raising their children; Natalie lacy and Jeremiah Lacy- Becktane.

She later met Edward Barnes and the two sort the lord for guidance and his blessings to join hand in holy matrimony. They were married October 10, 2020 and have spent 6 wonderful years together.

She loved serving the lord and her church, Greater Mount Olive AME Church where she served as a lay member. Her greatest passion on this side of eternity was her family. She and her family have traveled aboard visiting various places.

She could sit down and talk for hours to anybody about any and everything under the sun, if they had time to listen. She was a kind and gentle soul. She cared deeply for the welfare of others exemplifying the true essence of humility.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.R. and Virginia Beall, brother David Rogue and daughter Lisa Marie Ferguson.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory; her spouse Rev. Dr. Edward Barnes, children, Carolyn Keefe ( Smith ), of Cape Canaveral, Florida, William ( Smith ) Lacy, Panama City, Florida, son-in-law Barry Keefe, of Cape Canaveral, Florida, Nataile Lacy, of Jensen Beach, Florida, Jeremiah Becktane-Lacy, of Marietta, Georgia, Lisa Marie, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Heidi and Ken Robb, of Arizona, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandkids
