Albert Joseph Taylor was welcomed into God's arms on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at the age of 70 with his family by his side. He was a loving devoted husband of 47 years to his wife, Ellida. He was also an incredible dad to his 3 loving children, Christine, Michael, and Danielle and a proud papa to his 5 grandchildren, Alyssa, Ariana, Noah, Anecia, and Chance.
Al was born on April 21, 1949 in the Bronx, New York. He lived in Orange County, New York and settled his family in Melbourne, Florida since 1993. He entered the United States Army in 1969 until 1971. He was a Vietnam Combat Veteran and received several medals including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, and Combat Infantryman Badge. He was with the 196th LIB Americal Division. He was also educated at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York with a BS degree. Later he went to John Jay University of Criminal Justice in West Point, New York and earned a master's degree. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 35 years as a supervisor. He spent a lot of time trying to help Veterans receive their benefits. He was in the Military Ministry at Ascension Catholic Church.
Al had an awesome sense of humor, told great stories, was generous, and kind. He was also an avid Giants football fan. He loved his family, most especially his cats. His presence in our lives will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday September 18, 2019 from 6-8 at Florida Memorial Funeral Home 5950 US Highway 1 Rockledge, FL. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Ascension Catholic Church, 2950 N. Harbor City Blvd., Melbourne, FL. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Florida Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Al's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
