Andrew Joseph Arbuckle, 88 of Palm Bay, Florida passed away peacefully May 15, with his wife of 66 years by his side. He was born November 26, 1927 in Brooklyn where he met and married his childhood sweetheart, Marilyn Stulz in 1950. A WWII Navy veteran, Andy served for 4 years installing radar and communication systems in the Pacific theatre. After an honorable discharge, this same talent led him to work for RCA and Raytheon where he participated in “One Giant Leap for Mankind” by writing and editing the docking system technical manuals for the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) that placed man on the moon. Retiring to Florida in 1989 with his wife, Andy enjoyed writing, publishing “Grandma”s House” in 2011 as well as fishing, photography, gardening, and being a grandfather. His contribution to our community included several years teaching primary students as an instructor in the Rolling Reader program in the Brevard County school system, volunteer service for the Ensemble Theater constructing sets and working in the local arts through the Melbourne and Eau Gallie Art Districts. As a volunteer, he was instrumental in contributing to the new construction of the Brevard Zoo, as well as becoming one of their docents for many years. Andy is survived by his wife Marilyn, daughter Marianne and son Ken of Brevard, his son Don of Arizona and daughter Diana of Maryland as well as several grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A private burial has been planned.
