

He was smart, especially with numbers, and after a short time at Texas A & M, he received an appointment to West Point by Speaker of the House, Sam Rayburn. He flourished at West Point and made many friends. Upon graduation, Andy and his fellow cadets shipped to Korea and faced the worst casualties of any West Point class in history. His West Point community became his family for life.
Andy rose to the rank of Lt Colonel and served our country for 22 years. He married Doris Eroh of Pottsville, PA and together they raised two daughters and travelled the world.
In later years in Florida, Andy took up nature photography and writing. He wrote poetry, short stories, and edited a creative journal, "The Great Blue Beacon". He chronicled the story of convicted spy, George Trofimoff, his next door neighbor at IRCC, in a published book, "The Imperfect Spy".
After Doris passed away Andy married Mildred (Milly) Jacobs.
Andy is survived by Milly, now beloved mother to daughters Michele Byers and Annette Colbertaldo, his son -in -law Francesco Colbertaldo, his grandchildren Michelle, Erika and Daniele Colbertaldo; and nieces, Pamela Purcell, Linda Steers and his nephew Robert Fox.
There will be a Celebration of his Life held at 11am on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Indian River Colony Club, Viera, FL.
Interment will be at West Point.
