Barbara was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Anthony, for 52 beautiful years and a loving mother to her daughters, Ann Marie and Christine. Very proud Grandmother to Cayden Waelti, Michael (Katelyn) Orndorf and Andrew (Megan) Orndorf. She was also blessed with 2 beautiful great granddaughters, Addison and Bailey Orndorf.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, John and Maryann Quigley; sister, Susan McCarthy; husband, Anthony Vecchi and daughter, Christine Vecchi.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Ann Marie Freeman (Don); brother, John (Ann) Quigley; sister-in-law, Nancy Quigley; brother-in-law, Jim McCarthy; brother-in-law, Robert (Joni) Vecchi and many nieces and nephews and their spouses and children. Her niece, Melissa, was like a 3rd daughter to her, spending many summers and vacations with her aunt and uncle and cousins.
Donna, Roger, Michael, Michael, Jennifer, Melissa, Michael, Jaime, Jennifer, Kelley, Arrianne and Tanya were all very loved by their Aunt Barbara.
Family get togethers were always a highlight to Barbara.
Barbara was raised in Long Island, NY and attended Nursing School in Brooklyn, NY. In the hospital cafeteria is where she met her husband, Tony, while he was working as a police officer for NYPD. They married and welcomed their first daughter, Ann Marie, on their 2nd wedding anniversary in 1972 and welcomed their 2nd daughter, Christine, in 1976.
Barbara retired from nursing in 2010, after over 40 years in hospital and private practice. She loved cruising with her friends and family. Cruising was always enjoyed, especially when her grandsons joined. There were always plenty of laughs and fun to be had when we were all together.
Barbara was like a 2nd Mom to those who knew her, friends and colleagues alike. She was very generous and caring to all she knew.
Selfishness was never a quality she had. She led with her heart and cared deeply for her patients, friends and her family. She was always there to help in any way she was needed.
Barbara will be very missed for her smile, laugh, big heart and cooking. She cooked the best meals and loved doing so. She doted on her family, especially when her grandsons came and enjoyed their Sunday waffle breakfasts. We are all blessed with countless memories. Barbara will be especially missed by her daughter Ann Marie.
A memorial mass celebrating Barbara’s life will be held on Saturday, June 27th at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Melbourne, FL. Your presence is greatly welcomed and we ask that you wear your favorite tropical attire to honor Barbara. She would really love that!
