When Bernard Epstein was born in New York City on May 10, 1937, Hy and Lillian Epstein had no idea that they had brought into the world a man who would leave such an indelible and gracious footprint. Dr. Epstein graduated from the Chiropractic Institute of New York with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree and began practicing as a dedicated healer in 1959. Advancing the integration of chiropractic care with nutrition and acupuncture, he moved his practice to Merritt Island in 1976 where he practiced through 2007, when he relocated to a new practice in Satellite Beach. Dr. Epstein’s focus was always his family. Bernie, whose most cherished title was “Pop,” is not simply “survived” but joyously celebrated and vitally continued by the love of his life, his wife Kim Epstein; his brother and sister-in-law Arthur & Dina Epstein; his sister Andrea Epstein; his first wife Lois Felder and their children: Pam & Bob Allen and their daughter Olivia, Mark & Julia Epstein and their children Maxwell and Nikolas, Hali & Bob Panzak and their children Shelby, Elli and Vanessa, Reva & Menashe Newhouse and their son Ari, Lianne & Eric Deren and their children Chase and Aliza; and his step-children with Kim: Melissa Bottemiller & Keith Bennett and their son Jesse, and Christopher & Tanya Bottemiller and their children Lexi and Laney. Bernard Epstein lived his life with a zesty joy and a wise balance of body, mind, and spirit. Bernie danced the Cha Cha and the Hora with equal abandon and kept his style sharp with Zumba classes 4 times a week. He grew and shared the finest mangoes in Brevard County and paid the kindest loving attention to his religious community - the Chabad of the Space & Treasure Coasts - and his thousands of patients. His inviting smile, always open and embracing arms, and musical laughter will continue to offer a "living hug," an island of warmth and a gift of happiness for the world.
Dr. Epstein passed away on November 2, 2018. Donations in his memory can be made to: Chabad of the Space & Treasure Coasts (JewishBrevard.com), American Jewish Committee (ajc.org), National Health Association (healthscience.org), and Breast Cancer Research Foundation (bcrf.org).
