Betty put up a valiant fight against an aggressive type of uterine cancer. Her strong will to live, steadfast faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through a year of various types of grueling chemotherapy.
She was born on February 2, 1953, in Greenville, South Carolina, to Walker (Bill) and Mildred Ravan Bagwell. The youngest of 3 beautiful children, her sister Sondra Thibideau and brother Jim Bagwell, still live with their spouses – Ray and Ada, respectively – in Florida. Sondra and Jim were like a second set of parents for Betty, continuing to help care for her and watch after her until the end.
The family moved to Cocoa, Florida in 1957. After graduating from Cocoa High School, she married William Mark Garrett who she shared 44 years of marriage with. Betty raised four children, a daughter Angela, and three sons; Dustin, Jeffrey and Jeremy. Betty’s primary job was to raise her four children, which she did with a tremendous amount of love, guidance and support. In addition, Betty supported Mark in his work, where she provided administrative assistance to his business, Mark’s Masonry. Betty was a woman of faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Cocoa.
Betty is survived by husband, William Mark Garrett, four children and their partners: Angela and Mike McGhee, Dustin Garrett, Jeffrey Garrett and fiancée Tabatha Simonson, and Jeremy and Ashley Garrett. She gave unwavering love to her children and her eight grandchildren: Breana, Logan, Hayley and Colton McGhee, Hunter, Haley, Adalynn and Josiah Garrett.
Betty is also survived by her siblings and their spouses: Sondra and Ray Thibideau and Jim and Ada Bagwell. In addition, she had many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives who loved her and will miss her.
