Born on January 22, 1932, in Norton, Virginia, Bobby lived a vibrant and multifaceted life. Renowned for his charisma and flair, he was the ultimate entertainer—an unforgettable storyteller, dancer, harmonica player, and showman. His career path was as colorful as his personality: from owning two donut shops to working as an electrician, politician, car salesman, and beloved usher at the Melbourne Auditorium. Wherever he went, Bobby brought the energy that left a lasting impression.
A proud lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and a lottery enthusiast, Bobby carried optimism in everything he did. Within his family circle, he was especially cherished for his spirited performances of his legendary song “Joliet,” a tradition that brought laughter and joy to generations.
In 1949, Bobby served a brief but meaningful stint in the United States Army—a period he carried with quiet pride throughout his life.
He is survived by his devoted wife Dorothy; children Darrell Rhines, Cindy Schuerman, Cheryll McGann, and Chris Lowe; three of his ten siblings; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Willie C. and Mazelia Rhines; seven siblings; and two grandsons, Hudson and Colton.
A funeral service and celebration of Bobby’s life will be held on January 24,, 2026 at Florida Memorial Gardens at 10:00 a.m. In honor of his vibrant spirit, guests are encouraged to dress as colorfully as he lived.
