Celina Haddad De Gonzalez

Ciudadana nacionalizada Americana oriunda de la ciudad de Ocaña, Norte de Santander, Colombia donde nació el 22 de Septiembre de 1932. Contaba con 91 años. Sus padres Manzur Haddad oriundo del Líbano, y Vita Antonia Salcedo de Ocaña. Sus queridos hermanos Yebrail, Jorge, Dora, Jesús, y David, todos ellos ya fallecidos.

Celina estudió inicialmente en el Colegio de la Presentación en Ocaña, y luego se trasladó a la ciudad de Bogotá, donde terminó sus estudios de Bachillerato en el Colegio de Nuestra Señora del Rosario. Ingresó a la Universidad Nacional de Colombia donde se graduó como Bacterióloga. Fué de las primeras promociones de Bacteriología de la Universidad Nacional. Fué en la Universidad Nacional donde conoció a su futuro esposo, Gerardo González Canizales, Médico graduado de la misma Universidad Nacional y oriundo de la ciudad de Andalucía, Valle. Después de graduarse, Celina trabajó como Bacterióloga en el Banco de Sangre Morris Goot, y en el Hospital de la Samaritana en la ciudad de Bogotá. En 1963 Celina se traslada a la ciudad de Nueva Orleans donde hace estudios de Maestría en Salud Publica en la Universidad de Tulane, mientras su esposo, Gerardo se especializaba en Neurofisiología y Neurofarmacología en la misma Universidad. Sus dos hijos, Gerardo y Jorge, ambos son graduados Médicos de la Universidad Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario. Ambos hijos ejercen como Médicos en los Estados Unidos. Gerardo trabaja como Médico Psiquiatra en el Hospital Mclean/Universidad de Harvard, y Jorge ejerce como Médico Neurólogo en la ciudad de Melbourne, Florida.

Celina deja a numerosos amigos, y familiares incluidos a sus queridos sobrinos, sobrinas, primos, primas y demás familiares quienes siempre la recuerdan como una persona cariñosa, bondadosa, y de muy buen carácter. La partida de Celina deja un hondo pesar en todos los que la conocieron.

Celina Haddad de González passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 20, 2024 in the city of Melbourne, Florida where she had resided for more than 20 years.

Naturalized American citizen originally from the city of Ocaña, Norte de Santander, Colombia where she was born on September 22, 1932. She was 91 years old. Her parents were Manzur Haddad, originally from Lebanon, and Vita Antonia Salcedo from Ocaña. Her dear siblings were Yebrail, Jorge, Dora, Jesús, and David, all of them deceased.

Celina initially studied at the Colegio de la Presentación in Ocaña, and then moved to the city of Bogotá, where she finished her high school studies at the Colegio de Nuestra Señora del Rosario. She entered the National University of Colombia where she graduated as a Bacteriologist. Her class was one of the first Bacteriology graduates at the National University. It was at the National University where she met her future husband, Gerardo González Canizales, a Physician graduated from the same National University and a native of the city of Andalucia, Valle. After graduating, Celina worked as a Bacteriologist at the Morris Goot Blood Bank, and at the Hospital de la Samaritana in the city of Bogotá. In 1963 Celina moved to the city of New Orleans where she entered the Master's Degree in Public Health Program at Tulane University, while her husband, Gerardo, specialized in Neurophysiology and Neuropharmacology at the same University. Her two sons, Gerardo and Jorge, are both Physicians who graduated from the Universidad Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario. Both sons practice as Physicians in the United States. Gerardo works as a Psychiatrist at Mclean Hospital/Harvard Medical School, and Jorge works as a Neurologist in the city of Melbourne, Florida.

Celina leaves behind numerous friends and family, including her beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives who always remember her as a loving, kind, and very good-natured person. Celina's departure leaves a deep sadness in all those who knew her.

A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Ascension Catholic Church, 2950 N Harbor City Blvd, Melbourne, FL 32935. Interment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955.
