Cory John Ackerson, 41, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on April 24, 2025, in Palm Bay, Florida. Originally from Wayne, New Jersey, Cory moved to Brevard County in 2013, where he built a life rooted in hard work and commitment to his family.
Cory, or C-Rock to his friends, was employed as a Supervisor at SSA and Ambassador Services Port Canaveral in Cape Canaveral, Florida where he was known for taking new coworkers under his wing and treating them like brothers. Funny, boisterous and fiercely loyal, Cory was frequently the loudest voice at any gathering and the reason everyone was smiling.
Cory's love and dedication for his children was unwavering, and he never passed up an opportunity to head to the beach with his family to enjoy some time in the sun. A talented athlete, C-Rock was an excellent wrestler throughout high school and into college. He was also a passionate sports fan - particularly when it came to football - and the Dallas Cowboys were his favorite team. An avid bowler, Cory could often be found down at the lanes with his team, The Packa Bowlers. He also loved video games, and always managed to find the time to game with friends.
C-Rock is survived by his loving wife, Deidre Ackerson; his two beautiful children, Madison and Jace; his parents, Alice and Victor Ackerson; his sisters, Kimberly Ackerson and Holly Sacramone; and his nephew, Raymond Ackerson. He is predeceased in death by his sister, Melanie Ackerson.
Family and friends are invited to attend Cory's visitation on Sunday, May 4th at 12:00 PM at the Life Event Center, 5950 S. US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held that evening from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Carriage House in Lamplighter Village at 500 Lantern Blvd, Melbourne, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of C-Rock to the cause or organizations closest to your heart.
