away July 20, 2021 at Hospice of St. Francis in Titusville, Fl.
Dan graduated from Landon High School. 1951 was an eventful year: He
joined the Marine Corp, married Gwendolyn Mixon, relocated to California,
and his son was born.
Upon returning to Jacksonville in 1953, he joined the Jacksonville Police
Department. In 1973 he retired from JSO at the rank of Captain. Not one to
stay at home, he went to work at the State Attorney's office, where he
worked another 11 years.
Dan and Gwen had always dreamed of living on the water, where they could
fish any time they wanted to. In 1974 they completed their dream home on
the St. Johns River in St. Johns County. During their retirement they
fished, traveled the 50 states, and spent time with their grandchildren.
Dan was preceded in death by Gwen, his wife of 61 years. He is survived by
3 children, Bruce Lawall, Carol Moore, and Sandy (Jack) Williams. Also
surviving him are 4 grandchildren, Chris (Amber) Nash, Tony (Kelly) Lawall,
Carmen (David) Jacob, and Daniel (Sabrina) Nash. He also leaves behind 12
great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
There will be no service at this time due to COVID. A Memorial Service will
be held at a later date.
