Scott and I remember the bleachers in your home for all those great Super Bowl parties; Scott was very impressed that someone would actually do that in their home.
Dan was The Man!

Dan was my cousin. We grew up together in Tonawanda NY,  a year apart. I remember running around and playing at our Grandmother's house on Dearborn St. I looked up to him as a child, and will always remember his smile and laughter.I was so proud of his career at the KSC too! He was a cherished son, as I remember countless visits where Rosie and Wally couldn't brag enough about him. I know he loved his daughter, and was a good family man. That's the best legacy I can think of. His life was short, but well lived. You were a great cousin, Danny. I will miss seeing pictures of your adventures, career, and family. Rest in peace, and let perpetual light shine upon you.

No words can really ever express what my brother meant to me. He was truly an amazing person. His sense of humor, his laugh, his smile will never be forgotten.   Always loved. Truly missed.

Dear JoAnn and Danielle, 

Although I didn't know Dan well, I met him at our homeowners meeting in Feb.  We chatted for a spell, but I felt as though I'd know him for some time.  I pray that your grief is tempered by his memory and all the time you had together as a family.  You will be in my and my families prayers.

Worked with Danny launching Astronauts into space from the Kennedy Space Center. Played Volley ball, kicked field goals at his Super bowl house parties and Earned a Masters of Science Degree in Technical Management at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with Danny. 

All times with Danny had life rewarding experiences and he will be greatly missed.

I worked with Danny at KSC in OMS/RCS for a few years in the 80's and we became really good friends. He was a very kind, thoughtful, and generous person. As an engineer, Dan was highly competent, reliable, and a great team player. He will truly be missed by all who have had the pleasure in knowing him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Sweet Joni, my heart is aching with yours. Such sad and shocking news of a fallen husband, much too young to leave you. I have always cherished your stories of travel, moving, Super Bowl parties, raising Danielle, etc. etc. a fun and interesting life.
Forgive me for not being able to attend the service, as I really wanted to wrap you in my arms. But I cannot leave my Jim these days...hospice is being very attentive.
One day, you and I will have lunch at Alfredo's and catch up.

He always had a positive energy. Bill, Devan and I are keeping all of you close in our hearts and prayers.  Was beside myself when I heard from Devan since I had just seen him a few days prior and had such a great conversation with him catching up with his job and both Danielle and Joni.  He so loved talking about his family and I knew his world revolved around all of you.  Loved the pictures in the photo gallery and know his life was full.  God bless all of you and know He is with you through this difficult time.

I am so sad to see that such a brilliant and genuine man has left us too soon. I will never forget soccer with Danielle (Shorty), and always having Dan on the sidelines cheering us on with a tent to keep us all shaded on breaks too. He loved to see Danielle play, and I am sure he will love watching her grow as an inspiring and beautiful young woman as well as keep a watchful eye over the rest of his wonderful family. I've got many found memories of Danny working in the Firing Room at KSC.  Never a time when he wasn't willing to help the team be successful.  He always had a positive attitude and was a system engineer that could be counted on at all times.  I am sure Danny carried that attitude home with him everyday and can certainly appreciate while he will be missed by those outside of KSC.  My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Shorten family.  My you find comfort in knowing that Danny was loved here by his KSC family and that one day we'll all see his smiling face again.

Dan was a very nice person.  My thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends.  It was great to work with him.

I worked with Dan for over 25 years, remembering him as as young engineer when he began his career at KSC. He was always a pleasure to work with and I am happy to have had the opportunity to call him my friend.
