She was a charter member of the South Cherokee Baptist Church where she led the women’s ministry including organizing collections for M.U.S.T. and Operation Shoebox. She contracted Polio at the age of 2 and lived in an iron lung for 2 years. Her family moved to Florida in 1959 due to her health. Delores was heavily involved in the nursing home ministry and singing in the choir was dear to her heart. She was loved by many and will be truly missed.
She is survived by her mother; Linda M. James, and brothers; David, Mark, and Luther. She was preceded in death by her older sister; Carolyn Lyn Thigpen and her brother; Paul.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 11am at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 US HWY 1 Rockledge, FL 32955 with a reception to follow at the Cocoa Rockledge Garden Club, 1493 S. Fiske Blvd, Rockledge, FL 32955.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Women’s Ministry of South Cherokee Baptist Church.
