He loved the LORD and his faith was strong! He loved his FAMILY! He was a loving husband. He was a loving and proud father, grandfather and brother. He was a good friend. He had a strong and special bond with his father James, it was like no other. When his father was in Brevard, you could bet 9 times out of 10 where Donald was so was his Dad, people often thought they were brothers.
As a young man growing up in Merritt Island he could be found surfing at the pier. He and his buddies would jump in his surfer van and head to the beach anytime they could. He graduated Merritt Island High School class of 1974, he was thought of fondly by classmates. Growing up he was an athlete, he held high school state records in diving.
He loved snow skiing and being outdoors near any body of water. He loved the Bahamas and spent quite a bit of time there over the last 35 years. He was a certified scuba diver, loved to free dive for lobsters and he definitely knew his way around a boat. He also loved to sit and play his guitar.
He will be forever remembered for his KIND and LOVING spirit, his sense of humor, his amazing hugs and his laugh, oh his laugh (you knew he thought it was funny when he laughed and no sound came out just a huge smile with tears rolling down his face- his Brother Gary was good at causing this laughter). He will leave us with many joyful memories.
The legacy that he leaves behind is strong and powerful to those who were lucky enough to know him and LOVE him. We will continue to let it inspire us to spread love, kindness and laughter in his memory.
