Doris was born January 31,1927 in New York, New York to the late Andrew Mercier and Anna May Ewens. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy G. Puckett, beloved sister Sylvia (Craig); her first husband Frederick George Naylor and her son Frederick Andrew (Naylor).
She is survived by her daughter, Ellen (Naylor-Holt) and her daughter-in-law Lois (Naylor); her grandchildren: Emily Holt of New York and Kam Monihan of Nevada; and five great-grandchildren; and a niece and nephew.
Before retiring to Florida, Doris supervised the EKG department at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Virginia. Doris and Roy retired to Melbourne Beach, Florida in 1983. She was very active in the Beach Woods community and various charitable organizations. She was active in Our Daily Bread; Beach Woods new neighbors and Welcome Wagon among others. She and Roy enjoyed their many travels. Doris was an active member of the Community Chapel of Melbourne Beach and served on numerous committees over the years.
In 2008 Doris and Roy moved to Buena Vida Estates Continual Care community in West Melbourne. At Buena Vida, Doris participated in numerous social activities. She was a talented and avid knitter and along with her many numerous knitted gifts to family and friends, she was active in Buena Vida’s knitting circle which made baby hats for distribution to newborns at Holmes Hospital. Her adored cat Luna was her constant companion.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at the Chapel at Buena Vida Estates, 2129 W. New Haven Ave, Melbourne, Florida on May18, 2019 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive condolences as of 1:30 pm.
