

Earl William (Bill) Reinhart, Jr. of Merritt Island, FL went home to his Heavenly Father on February 7, 2016. He was born in Mobile, Alabama on September 14, 1932. A graduate of Murphy High School, he attended the University of Southern Mississippi and completed his education at Rollins College.
An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, Bill worked for the U. S. Air Force before transferring to NASA at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in 1965. He worked on the Apollo/Saturn Program and the Space Shuttle Program where he received several NASA Commendations including the Astronaut’s Silver Snoopy Award. At the time of his retirement from KSC in 1995, he was NASA’s Property Disposal Officer for KSC.
Bill taught Sunday School and was a department director, was involved in the Activities Program and was a long-time deacon at First Baptist Church of Merritt Island.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Marilyn Barnes also of Mobile; son Brad (Charlotte); daughters Lynette and Shandley (Jake) Kimrey; granddaughters Kaitlyn Reinhart, Emily Weber (Chad) and Anna Reinhart; step-granddaughter Crystal Kimrey.
Visitation will be at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home on Merritt Island on Tuesday, February 9 between 6:00 and 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home on Merritt Island on Wednesday, February 10 at 2:00 PM.
