Edward Earl Hunter was born on Sunday, July 23, 1944 in Blakely, Georgia to Edna Henderson and Richard Hunter and raised by his aunt, Ms. Lily. He grew up in Blakely until his early teenage years when he made the move to Florida. Edward had many nicknames, such as "Blackeye Pea", 'Soul Man", "Mule" and "Ed". He worked as a railroad worker at Florida East Coast once he came to Florida for 15 years, then he moved on to be employed by Johns Rodriguez Construction where he mastered his concrete profession for 18 years, afterwards he was employed by Brevard County where he retired from, after retirement he started working for himself in construction where he was an expert in concrete.
He married the love of his life, Mary French. He loved his wife, kids, grands, and great grands, they were his whole world. Edward was always spending time with is family going on holiday outings, going to the beach and picnics at the park, his wife's cooking was his favorite - he bragged about it to everyone. He had a nickname for all of his family and friends, especially his kids and grands, his favorite was "Skinny Dip" until she became the "Whooping Boss", that was Debra, "Brain" was Michael and "Shovel Hand" was Ricky.
He loved telling the story and showing the floor plans of the castle he built on Merritt Island with his sons. There was nothing he wouldn't do for his family or friends, he was always helping one way or another. He was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church then he later joined East Coast Christian Center. Edward was a faithful watcher of western shows on channel 227. Whenever he wasn't watching westerns, he would be out in his truck scraping with his great grand daughter, Shari, in the yard doing something or sitting on the porch talking to neighbors.
