Betty was born on May 25, 1943 in Providence, RI to Russell and Rubina Ferri.
Betty’s career passion was to become a Registered Nurse. She fulfilled that passion by receiving her RN degree from SUNY at Dutchess, Poughkeepsie, NY. She continued with her education receiving her BA and MBA in Healthcare Administration from New School, NY City.
Betty worked her way through the nursing ranks to the top of her field, Chief Nursing Officer, a position she proudly held at four hospitals, lastly being Healthfirst’s Holmes Regional Medical Center and Palm Bay Hospital. After retiring from Healthfirst Betty began medical consulting with B.E. Smith consulting in Lenexa, KS. Following her consulting she joined the startup team for the new Kindred Hospital, Melbourne as director of Quality Management and Infection Control. Betty finally retired for the last time in 2012.
On November 10, 1993, Betty married Ben Herrman. They made their home in New Brunswick and Waretown, NJ before moving to Melbourne, FL in May 1999 where her career started with HealthFirst.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Rubina Ferri; Brother, Robert Ferri and Sister, Joyce Ferri.
Betty is survived by her husband and soulmate, Ben of Rockledge; Two daughters, Carla Manco of Mitchell, SD and Joyce Green, Melbourne, FL; Two step sons, David Herrman, Merritt Island, FL, Scott Herrman, Voorhees, NJ; her brother Russell Ferri, Cranston, RI; six grandsons, one granddaughter, one great granddaughter, two nieces, one nephew and a number of cousins.
She loved her family first and foremost. She was an avid traveler, cruising worldwide, loved country music and dancing with her husband Ben, playing golf, gambling in general and spending time with her friends who she considered her extended family.
Betty was a great believer in helping children and our veterans.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020 from 1:30pm to 4:00pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 4:00pm in the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL.
