

Elizabeth D. Meng, age 91, passed away at home after a lengthy illness on January 24, 2011. For the past several years she was lovingly taken care of by several private caregivers whom she came to love as family. She was born in Indiana and grew up in Avondale Estates, GA.
She did volunteer work in hospitals and schools. She was an outstanding military wife and hostess. She was president of several Officers' Wives Clubs. In her travels she met dignitaries, including the current Emperor and Empress of Japan. She also became friends with the High Priest of the Meji Shrine and his daughter.
She was an avid fly fisherwoman and took numerous trips with her husband to Montana. Her long life was also enriched by her dogs, each one becoming her loving companion.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Col. Lewis B. Meng of Viera FL; her children, Lynn Johnson (Douglas) of Cocoa, FL; Wendy Kessler (Alan) of Santa Fe, NM; her sister, Mary Simmons, FL; grandchildren, Michael Johnson, FL and Jordan Kessler NM and her great-granddaughter, Lucy Elizabeth Johnson of FL.
There are no services planned as was her wish.
