Elwood O. Smith, Sr., 83, of Melbourne, FL went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 23, 2016. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 24, 1932 to Oscar Wertz Smith and Mary Martha Scheider Smith.
Elwood was a Navy veteran of the Korean War; he graduated from Florida Institute of Technology in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering. He worked as a teacher for Brevard County Schools, for Harris Corp and for RCA at Patrick Air Force Base. He was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Harbor City Lodge #318 F&AM, Nile Grotto, Azan Shrine and Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his sons, Elwood O. Smith, Jr. (wife Hong) and Roger Smith (wife Janet); four grandchildren, Kelsey Swatek (husband Cole), Brittany Smith, Zachary Smith and Sabrina Smith. Elwood is preceded in death by his wife, Louise Delores Smith, and his sister, Dolly Anderson.
There will be a Visitation held from 10:00 to 11:00am on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL, where his Celebration of Life will begin at 11am. Interment will be a Florida Memorial Gardens.
