E. Phillip Mikell Jr., 70, of Suntree, passed from this life on January 2nd. He was born in Lake City, Florida to the late Hazel Dobson Mikell and Ernest Phillip Mikell, Sr. on July 18, 1943. Raised in Jacksonville, "Phil" graduated in 1962 from Robert E. Lee Senior High School. After serving in the National Guard, he began a career in management with Associates Financial Services, Inc., where he was employed until his retirement in 2005. Phil enjoyed boating, fishing and cruise travel; he was a student of history, with particular interest in the U.S. Civil War and WWII. He was an avid University of Florida Gators football fan and spent many happy hours watching the Gators triumph on the football field. He was predeceased by his son, Scott Phillip Mikell and is survived by his wife of 43 years, June Wilden Mikell of Suntree; sister Elaine L. Mikell of Jacksonville and his grandson, Phoenix N. Mikell of Fernandina Beach, along with many grieving brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews and close friends. Visitation at 1:00 PM will be followed by a 2:00 PM service on Saturday, January 11 at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge.
