Filomena (Fannie) Adams gave up her spirit on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at the remarkable age of 102. She is survived by her loving daughters Dolores Thomas of Rockledge, Florida; and Jacqueline Egresitz of Alpharetta, Georgia. Fannie also leaves behind her devoted grandchildren Robert Thomas, Jr. (Rebecca), Rick Thomas, Jennifer Adams, Leigh Deutcsh (Arthur), and Stephanie Graves (Mark) along with great grandchildren, Anthony Cross-Thomas, Cayman Thomas, Syd Thomas, Allie Deutcsh, Arthur Deutcsh, Miles Adams, and Drew Graves. She will be remembered by her daughter-in-law Judy Adams and many nieces and nephews whom she held dear.
Fannie is predeceased by her beloved husband of fifty-two years, Theodore (Ted) Adams, Sr., son Theodore Adams, Jr., and sons-in-law Joseph J. Egresitz, Jr., and Robert Thomas, Sr.
Born on May 26, 1921 in Jersey City, New Jersey to parents Peter and Virginia Rose, she was one of ten children. Five brothers and four sisters are in heaven to welcome her. Family was everything to her and she loved being a homemaker, with the ability to make any occasion special for family and friends. A long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fannie felt an intense devotion to the Blessed Mother. Throughout her life, she organized Rosary Prayer Groups for her friends in the church parishes she attended. She was a founding member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary 6125.
Always an avid spectator, she was an enthusiastic fan of all sports. As evidenced by staying awake the night before her passing to watch the World Series. For many years she pursued her talent for creating beautiful ceramics that were generously shared. And forever proud of her Italian heritage, she enjoyed singing the “old songs”, dancing the Tarantella, and showing the next generations how to make her outstanding Lasagna. Ready to fill in at the last moment, Fannie was well sought after by the Bridge Circles in Rockledge. Also, many fun hours were spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren teaching them the finer points of a variety of card games.
She will be missed terribly by all who loved her.
A one-hour viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place immediately after at Florida Memorial Gardens, on US Highway 1, Rockledge, Florida. A reception will then be held at Fannie’s home, 884 Kings Post Road, Rockledge, Florida. All are welcome.
Fannie loved plants, gardens, and flowers.
