Gary Dean Hendrickson

He was a beloved brother to Bill and a loving father to his children: James (Rhonda), William (Patricia), Courtney, and Shelby (Josh). He was also an adored Grandpa/Pappy/Pee-Pop to his many grandchildren. His wife and soulmate, Lisa, and his sister, Cheryl, predeceased him.

Gary was always willing to help others. Most who knew him likely have at least one story of his kind and selfless nature. From simply offering a listening ear to using any of his many handy-man skills. He was regularly doing deep research on the Internet to add new skills to his vast arsenal.

In the Air Force he reached the rank of Chief Master Sergeant and it was his second proudest achievement after his family. He traveled a lot during the 23 years he served, developing a particular love for Thailand and its cuisine. When he could, he’d order food “Thai hot,” confirm to the concerned staff that yes his clearly white self wanted that, and proceed to thoroughly enjoy the spiciness.

For 22 years after the Air Force, he worked as a Payload Specialist and Chief Level 5 Engineer, mainly at Boeing. He spoke highly of his coworkers and his experience there as he oversaw many launches of space shuttles, rockets, and more. Even long after retiring, he’d excitedly watch launches and recoveries on the tv, calling the rest of the household to watch it together.

A Memorial Service will be held at Life Event Center in Rockledge on Saturday July 25, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Florida Memorial Gardens/Life Event Center (5950 US-1, Rockledge, FL 32955).
