Gene Steven Scruggs

He is survived by his loving wife Linda (Alana, Summer, and Brett); his brother, Richard; his children, Stevie (Kim), Amy (Wendell), and Brady Farrell; grandchildren, Heidi (Pascual), Sean (Nadia), Alexa, Baylee (Jack), and Garrett (Ella); and great-grandsons Logan, Parker, and Damien.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Irene Proctor and Jack Scruggs; his brothers, Jerry and Alan Scruggs; and his son, Nate Allen.

Steve loved technology and had a gift for understanding how things worked. He was always the first to have the newest gadgets and there didn’t seem to be much if anything he couldn’t build, repair, or figure out. His talents and interests led him to serve in the United States Air Force, pursue a career in electronics, and eventually retire for Homeland Security as a Senior Field Technology Officer.

Steve will be remembered for the sound of music filling the room, the harmonica that was never far from his hands, his quick mind, his love for technology, and his ability to fix or find a solution to nearly anything.

Steve also became more open to faith in his later years. His family is thankful for Linda and the Friends who encouraged him, invited him to church, and shared Christ’s love with him. Their kindness and faithfulness meant more than they may ever know. While only God knows the condition of a person’s heart, there is comfort knowing that he was surrounded by people who loved him dearly, prayed for him often, and shared the hope and love of Jesus with him. Although Steve had a strong Spirit and a deep Spiritual Knowing all his life.

His music may have grown quiet, but the memories, lessons, and love he leaves behind will continue to live on in the hearts of those who truly knew him.
