

Gertrude (Trudy) MacArthur passed away on December 20, 2010 at Consolate H.C. in Melbourne, FL. She was born November 22, 1915 in Brooklyn, NY, growing up in Ozone Park, Queens and raising a family in Dix Hills, Long Island. Upon retiring, she relocated to Palm Harbor, FL with her husband, Jimmy. Trudy was a Brownie Scout leader and worked as a secretary for many years. She loved to cook and entertain. With a strong faith, wonderful doctors, friends and determination she became a 25 year survivor of third stage ovarian cancer. She was often heard saying "I have a lot to be thankful for".
Trudy, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was predeceased by her husband, James MacArthur. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Dobert of Melbourne; sons, James (Sally) MacArthur of Denville, NJ, Richard MacArthur of Lakeland, CO; grandchildren, Christine (Wayne) Alvar of Melbourne Beach, Todd (Elizabeth) Dobert of Brookhaven, NY, Karen (Thomas) MacArthur/Colthurst of Somerville, MA, Kathleen (David) Summers of Louisville, CO and Heather MacArthur of Rochester, NY. She is the great-grandmother of Erik and Garrett Alvar, Brett, Ross and Rose Dobert, Lillian MacArthur and Natalie Summers.
Trudy was a member of Suntree United Methodist Church and her funeral will take place in Forest Hills, NY. Her family wants to thank the employees of Consolate H.C. for the wonderful care and love she received over the several years she resided there. Florida Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
