

She was born on December 28, 1921 in Johnston County, North Carolina to Charlie and Eliza Raynor (Née Adams). She was the fourth of 9 siblings and grew up on their farm in Johnston County. At the age of 19 she met John Garland Beasley and the two were married on May 18, 1941. They moved to Four Oaks North Carolina where John worked and in April of 1942 Gladys gave birth to her son, Landis Beasley.
Gladys attended Wake Technical School and became a licensed practical nurse. She worked at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield, NC. When John and Gladys moved to Raleigh, NC and she found work at a local nursing home. She was also was a big resource for much of her family when it came to health. The ones who still lived in rural North Carolina would regularly seek her help and care when they fell ill.
After retirement John and Gladys moved to Kill Devil Hills, NC. They lived there until 1984 when they made their final retirement move to Cocoa Florida where they both spend the remainder of their lives.
Gladys always said that caring for her family was her first priority. She valued education and took great pride in the accomplishments of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Garland Beasley, son Landis Roscoe Beasley and her 9 siblings. She is survived by her grandchildren Lisa (Terry) Mahanna, John (Sarah) Beasley and great-grandchildren Owen, Bailey, and Ella.
