Herbert A. Womick Jr. son of Herbert & Leana (Pearl) Womick was born October 31, 1935 in Anna, Illinois. He departed this life Monday April 18th, 2016 at the William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida.
Herb was united in marriage to the love of his life Marsha King on July 7, 1956 at the Nazarene Church in Anna, Illinois. She survives.
Other Survivors include: Son’s Jeffrey Womick and wife Sharmein of Fort Pierce, Florida; Michael Womick and wife Debra Gale of Celebration, Florida; Todd Womick and wife Paula of Orlando, Florida. 5 Grandchildren, Matt and wife Jenni; Ivy, Jenna, Tyler and Brooke. 2 Great Grandchildren Treston and Bobby.
Herbert was preceded in death by: His son Timothy Todd Womick, His father Herbert A. Womick Sr., Mother Leana (Pearl) Womick, Sisters Sharon Dodson and Marge Eddleman. Niece Charlene Long, Nephew Joe Reiner
Herbert was a 1953 graduate from Anna-Jonesboro High School. He enlisted into the United States Air Force on April 1st, 1955 and was sent to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas for basic training. He was later transferred to Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. Next assignment he was sent to O’Hara International Airport in Park Ridge, Illinois where he stayed for the remainder of his military service. After receiving an honorable discharge and leaving the United States Air Force he moved to Elgin, Illinois with the family and started working at Elgin Micronics, a division of the Elgin Watch Factory, in the research and development laboratory as a technician. In 1962 he worked at RCA as an electronic technician in Lincoln, California at the Titan Missile Site. Later RCA transferred him to the Patrick Air Force Base in Satellite Beach, Florida. In 1971 he started working with Walt Disney World and was there for Opening Day of the Magic Kingdom. He worked at Disney World for 27 years before his retirement in 1998.
Herb enjoyed wood working, electronic repair, sharing time with his grandchildren and playing chess.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 30th, 2016 at Noon at the Florida Memorial Gardens and Life Events Center. There will be a grave site service at Noon followed by a celebration of life at the Life Event Center. Location is 5950 South US Highway One, Rockledge, Florida 32955
