LTC. Howard D. Gutin, Ret., 80, passed away April 24, 2011. Howard was born in Paterson, NJ on August 17, 1930. His parents were Jacob and Esther Gutin. He joined the Army at a young age as a Private and worked up to a LTC. after 32 years of service. During those years in the military he earned a degree from University of Nebraska. As a second career he joined PBS and produced Austin City Limits for 7 years and was appointed by President Reagan to serve as Chairman of the Board for Public Broadcasting. LTC. Gutin was active in his synagogue, Temple Beth Shalom and Jewish War Veterans. He is survived by his wife, Carmen; son, Richard; daughter-in-law, Barbara; daughter, Lisa Hunt; son-in-law, Scott Hunt; step-daughter, Inez M Dalton M.D. ; step-granddaughters ,Jessica and Michelle Dalton; stepson, Alexander D. Tinsley and his wife, Colleen; step-grandson Alexander M. Tinsley.
