On Tuesday, January 15th, 2019, Gloria (Guerrieri) Mierzwinski, wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt passed away at the age of 95. Gloria will forever be remembered by her surviving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Gloria was born in New Haven, Connecticut on September 21, 1923. She was the youngest of five siblings born to Rachele Ierardi Guerrieri and Aurelio Guerrieri.
Gloria was married to Chester V. Mierzwinski, a World War II veteran who served in the US Army as a Second Lieutenant and was a Bronze Star recipient for valor during D-Day. Chester and Gloria had four children. She worked for a short time as a secretary for a Catholic high school in New Hampshire and was a stay-at-home mom.
Moving from New Hampshire, Gloria became a longtime resident of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida. Gloria was a former active member of the New Neighbor's Club where she enjoyed playing bridge as an excellent player. Gloria was known for her tasty Italian cooking and creation of beautiful oil paintings. She was also a winner of a Yahoo contest that resulted in a trip to Santa Monica, California for a radio and internet promotion.
Gloria is survived by her children, Thomas Mierzwinski of Oakland, California; Linda Jenkins of Santa Clarita, California; Kenneth Mierzwinski of San Francisco, California and David Mierzwinski of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida. David was a longtime care provider for his mother.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews from her and her husband’s sides of the family.
A private grave side service will be held on Monday, January 21st at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Florida. Gloria will be buried next to her husband.
