James Frederick Breithaupt

Surviving family members include his wife, Bella; brother, Keith; sons, Jerry, Bill, Jimmy, and stepson, Ken.

Jim was a truly devoted military man who loved the Air Force. In his 80's, he would often say, "I wish I could go back." While serving in Vietnam, he would say, "If I get killed, what better way to die than giving your life to your country."

There were many facets to his life. While graduating from the University of Miami and Syracuse University Law School, he was a barker at an amusement park and cashier at a racetrack. After graduation, he practiced law on Wall Street. He also taught law at the University of Florida and was a real estate broker operating his own company. He was then decided to join the Air Force and served as judge advocate for 30 years, retiring as a Colonel.

After he retired, he became a ride operator at several theme parks (Boardwalk and Baseball, Legoland and 10 years at Disney World). When he moved to Brevard County, he volunteered at the local zoo. He loved talking with people and putting a smile on their faces.

Funeral services will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida on Friday, August 14th, 2026, at 9:30am. They have requested to arrive by 9:15am, and park in lane C.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
