James C. Goodson

James (Jim) C. Goodson, age 87, a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023 at home with his family by his side. James was born July 21, 1936 in Sylvester, Georgia.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Betty; brother, Danny Kaye Goodson; sons, Terry (Christy) and Rick (Kim); grandchildren Melissa, Jared, Robert and Matthew. He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Lois Goodson of Moultrie, Georgia; sister, Donna Cathern,Virginia Brown and grandson, James W. Goodson.

Jim received many recognitions for a job very well done. He was an over achiever, he believed in doing the very best at anything you do. He worked at the Space Center for 42 years, accomplishing many things and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree - magna cum laude and an Associate Science Degree in mechanical engineering, with honors. He retired in the aerospace services division and as a project manager for Johnson Controls. He was in the National Guard for 10 years.

Jim was a legendary softball player and spent many years managing little league baseball and women's softball in Mid-Brevard. He participated in 2 world softball tournaments in Kansas City, Missouri and Jones Beach, New York. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing and hunting. He loved gardening, is an avid Atlanta Braves baseball and Georgia Bulldog football fan.

A gathering of family and friends for James will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, Florida, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.

He will be remembered and missed by many people.
