She was born in Kansas City, MO, on November 16, 1929, to parents Earl W. Austin and Hortence Miller. Janice received her bachelor’s degree from Central MO State University and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha (ΑΣΑ) sorority. Jan was married to Donald O. Lamer, predeceased.
A flight hostess for TWA for over 40 years, in retirement she was a member of TWA Seniors and Silver Wings.
Jan is survived by cousin Bill Austin, Godchildren Heather Bernatchez and Darryl Haase, Taylor & Kelly Bernatchez, and dear friends Henry Thelan & June White.
Funeral arrangements and services are through the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, with visitation at 2:00 pm and services at 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 25, 2014. Information for internment in Kansas City, MO will be announced later.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AMVETS (AMVETS.org) and the Wounded Warrior Project (WoundedWarriorProject.org).
The service will be a celebration of her life, and to honor Jan, pastel colors may be worn.
