

Eleanor Jean Watkins Benson, 80, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011, peacefully at home. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she came to Brevard County in 1957 from Daytona Beach, FL.
Jean and her husband, Marcellus, opened the very first pharmacy on Merritt Island in 1957 which was "the meeting place" complete with soda fountain and all! She loved her family, friends, and exchange students from around the world and flowers.
Her favorite pastimes were sitting on the front porch of their ancestral home on the Indian River, water aerobics and traveling in South America and Europe.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Marcellus Rambo Benson; her sisters, Sara Wallace and Laura Spearman; her three children, Diana Benson Isaac, her husband Robert Isaac, Marcellus Rambo Benson, Jr., his wife Debbie Mills Benson, Regina Benson Cook, her husband Herchel Cook, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Sean Robert Rambo Benson and Marcellus Rambo Benson III; and step-grandsons, Nathaniel and Gabriel Isaac.
Friends are invited to celebrate Jean's life at a Graveside Service Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Florida Memorial Gardens. Interment at Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge, Florida.
