

He was born in Hartford, Connecticut and came to Brevard County in 1980 from McGuire AFB, NJ. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant after 23 years of service to his country.
He was a member of the VFW, Military Order of Cootie, AMVETS, and was a volunteer Officer for the Melbourne Police Department. Jim enjoyed being a part of Shop with a Cop for over 14 years, and was also an FTO for the V Cop program. He dressed up as Santa and called Bingo for Lake Nona VA Hospital, and enjoyed cooking breakfast at the VFW for several years. His hobbies included; reading, word finds, cooking, darts, cards, gardening, and smoking cigars. He especially enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and handing out candy. He also traveled 25 cruises with Carnival Cruise Lines.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years; Linda Olson, daughters; Gail Zimmardo (Bob), Tracy Kochersperger (Joe), grandchildren; Bradly and Matthew Horner, Kristyn Zimmardo, and Daniel, Rachel, and Rebekah Kochersperger.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 10am at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Melbourne Police Department Shop with a Cop.
