John Frentzel, 95, was born and grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. Growing up in Cincinnati, he became a lifelong Cincinnati Reds fan. He often talked about watching the Reds play at Crosley field. John attended and graduated from Xavier High School.
He was a veteran who served in the Army Air Corps and later in the Air Force during WW II and Korea. John later attended Xavier University graduating with a degree in accounting. He married the love of his life, Carlene, on June 2, 1951. They were married for 63+ years until Carlene’s death in 2014. John worked at GE for 10 years and became an Auditor for the Defense Department.
John and his family came to Merritt Island in the early 1960’s where he worked as an Auditor on the space program. John retired in 1989. John and Carlene were active in their retirement, traveling to Hawaii several times and traveling thru Europe.
John enjoyed playing golf, bowling and continued his passion for playing bridge. They settled in Lake Wales. After Carlene died, John moved to Orlando to be closer to his family. His passion for the Reds and playing bridge continued until his death.
He is survived by his sons, Steve and Paul, his daughter Kathy, son-in-law Albert, daughter-in-law Barb and his grandson William.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 1:30 pm at Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Merritt Island. Interment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge.
