

John “Jack” C. Sterner, Jr., TSGT USAF (Ret.) 78 of Melbourne went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Jack, as he was known to many, was born in Harrisburg, PA on August 13, 1936. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years as a Technical Sergeant. He had tours of duty in Pakistan and Afghanistan installing communication systems. After his military career, he went to work for Martin Marietta and worked at the Kennedy Space Center supporting the Space Shuttle Program.
A caring husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Velma of Melbourne, FL and her children Curtis M. Sherdon of Diamond Bar, CA, Richard Scott Sherdon of River Ridge, LA, Sharon Joy Wescoe of Bangor, PA, Robert Moore and Tara Carraro Moore of Somers, NY and Dennis and Angela Moore of Alpharetta, GA. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Jenn Sherdon Reese and her husband Jason, Cassie Wescoe Mahoney and her husband Dan, Cory Wescoe and his wife Rachel, Tiffany, Elizabeth and Junior Moore, Robert William Moore, III and a great-grandson, Graham Patrick Wescoe.
There will be a visitation from 1-2pm followed by a celebration of Jack’s life at 2pm held at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial on Sunday, January 11. Memorial donations may be made to the Brevard County South Animal Care Center at:
