Born in Chicago, IL, John brought his family to Brevard Co. in 1974 from Fort Wayne, Indiana. After a stint in the Army, he married his sweetheart in 1962 and started a lifelong career in telemetry, working on Grand Bahama Island and tracking ships Redstone, Vandenberg, and Worthy, retiring from Kwajalein Atoll in 2013.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Beryl Lou McDonald and his sisters, Marian Gonzalez and Ginny Woodard, and his brothers, Bud McDonald and James Doughman. He leaves behind 3 children, Lisa O’Neal (RB), Robert McDonald (Rita), and Jack McDonald (Liz), 9 grandchildren, Robert O’Neal, Aolonda O’Neal, Christian O’Neal, Patrick O’Neal, Robert McDonald, Jennifer McDonald, Christopher McDonald, Nathan McDonald, and Peyton McDonald, and 4 great-grandchildren Makayla, Holedyn, Jaidyn and Gabriel.
Visitation and Memorial Service will be on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at 1:30 pm at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL.
