

John A. Roberts, 71, of Melbourne, Florida passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011. John was born on March 25, 1939 in New Rochelle, New York to Earl and Mary Roberts.
John was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and honorably discharged in 1960. He worked for Gold Medal Farms while living on Long Island, NY. John met his one and only sweetheart, Patricia when they were just teenagers. They married on April 24th, 1960 on Long Island, New York and had three children, John J. Roberts, Donna M. Schmidt, and Michael J. Roberts. John and his family lived on Long Island until the spring of 1979 and then moved to Palm Bay, Florida. He worked for Velda Farms in Orlando, Florida for 21 years before retiring. He moved with his bride to Viera, Florida in 2000 for the remainder of his life.
John is survived by his wife, Patricia M. Roberts, of Melbourne, Florida, son, John J. Roberts (wife Lisa) of Melbourne, Florida, daughter, Donna M. Schmidt (husband Gary) of Overland Park, Kansas, and son, Michael J. Roberts (wife Kim) of Viera, Florida; grandchildren, Tyler M. Roberts, Lauren E. Roberts, Sophia M. Schmidt, Grady JM. Schmidt, Kolby C. Schmidt, Dylan M. Schmidt, Austin M. Roberts, and Alexa K. Roberts.
John was preceded in death by and his parents, Earl and Mary Roberts.
He was known his whole life by the name Jack. Although he loved every sport, baseball was his favorite. In 1956, Jack played on the Hicksville High School baseball team that won the Nassau County, NY championship. He was a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Yankees. Later in his young life, he spent much of his free time enjoying time with his family and coaching his sons in little league baseball. Jack will be missed by all his family and friends.
The viewing service will be held on Monday, January 24th from 5 to 7 pm at Florida Memorial Gardens. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 25th at 11 am. Friends are welcome to attend.
