

Born on February 25, 1924, in Havana, Cuba, Jose lived a long and accomplished life devoted to family, faith, and engineering. He escaped assassination coming to the United States in 1962 and resumed his work as a Licensed Electrical Engineer. As a Licensed Electrical Engineer, he dedicated his career to the field, most recently as a partner with Center Engineering. Known for his sharp mind and tireless work ethic, he was a respected figure in his profession.
Jose moved to Brevard County in 2018 from New Jersey. He was a proud and active member of the Knights of Columbus and lived by the values of service, faith, and integrity.
He is survived by his sons, Leon of Melbourne, FL, and Javier (Toni) of Morristown, NJ; his sister, Amalia Guerra of Miami, FL; grandchildren Angela (Mike Graham), Daniel, Joseph (Casey), Michael (Kelly), Javier Jr. (Kristin), Victoria (Alex Barclay), and Andrew (Linda); and great-grandchildren Milo, Rosalie, Amelia, JP, Mickey, Aiden, Tommy, Lucas, Niko, Cate, and James.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ana; his brother, Carlos Martinez; and sisters Maria Dolores and Maria de los Angeles.
Visitation will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne, Florida. A funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 PM, with interment immediately after.

Jose's legacy of wisdom, kindness, and devotion to family and faith will live on in all who knew and loved him.
