Dr. Joseph F. O’Brien, III, age 80 of Satellite Beach, Florida passed away peacefully in God’s grace on January 19, 2025. He was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on April 15, 1944, to Joseph and Marie O’Brien.
Joe began his adult years by doing one enlistment in the US Army at Fort Bragg, NC. After returning to Florida, Dr. O’Brien went to college and focused on degrees that would grow him as an educator. Joe spent his 30-year career with Brevard County Schools where he served as a teacher, Vice Principal and Principal. He opened a few new elementary campuses over the years and enjoyed taking on the challenges that came with that position. Joe used his doctoral degree to be an Adjunct Professor with Nova Southeastern University with the Educational Leadership Department. He was a lifelong learner who enjoyed sharing his love of education with future leaders.
Joe was a fun-loving man who could tell stories for hours and put a smile on the faces of everyone around him. His humor and contagious personality will be missed by his family. He loved being active by running and spending time outdoors. Once his health declined, he still found ways to make the most out of each day. Joe is survived by his two children, Joseph (Jenny) and Laurie (Kevin); grandchildren, Donald (Haley), Joseph, Ansley and Calusa; great grandchildren, Avery, Everly and Charlie.
