98 years old.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Peggy Landreth, Step Sons;
David Ray (Frances), Don Ray, Wayne Ray (Joyce), Tim Ray (Kathy), Step Children and Step
Grandchildren. Joy was preceded in death by; Husbands; Willard Landreth (1), Cyrus Ray (2),
Daughters; Carol Mathis, Shirley Landreth, Son In Law James Mathis, Granddaughter Sherri
Mathis, Step Son Mark Ray, and Step Daughter In Law Emily Ray.
Joy was born in Oden, Indiana on February 10, 1924. She and Willard (Husband) resided in
Flossmoor, IL. She was a Nursing Assistant and an Activities Assistant for 21 years at a Nursing
home in Matteson, Illinois and moved to Cocoa, Florida after her first Husband passed away.
She met her second Husband (Cyrus) at the First Baptist Church of Rockledge where he was a
Deacon. Her hobbies were sewing and Arts & Crafts. She repaired clothes, and sewed wedding
gowns, bridesmaid gowns, choir robes, and stuffed animals.
Also, she was active in the church and the Community, teaching Sunday School and Vacation
Bible School, making arts and crafts, and toys for the children visiting special needs schools,
residential group homes and nursing homes. She was a devout Christian and truly loved Jesus
and loved to tell the stories of Jesus.
Funeral Service will be held at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US
Highway 1, Rockledge, Florida on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 2:00 and viewing will be at 1:00
with burial to follow at Rockledge Memorial Gardens.
