

Kathleen Michele Vinson (Katy Adams, Kate Vinson) was born April 22, 1976 to Larry and Janice Adams in Ft Campbell, KY. Shortly after, her family relocated to Lafayette, LA. Eleven years later, Kate moved to Cocoa Beach, FL with her mom, step father, David McCormick, and her sister, Adrianne. Kate graduated from Cocoa Beach High School in 1994 where she found a love for golf and excelled at the sport. Coach David Lowe said Kate was one of his most successful coaching stories. After graduation, Kate attended Florida International University on a golf scholarship where she earned a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management. Kate lived in South Florida until 2006. Later, she spent time in both Texas and Minnesota before settling back in Brevard County. Kate worked in the financial industry earning her security licenses before branching out into the mortgage world. She loved her job and prided herself on helping people make the largest purchase of their lives.
Kate had a love for life and had a great sense of humor. She loved to make people laugh. Kate’s greatest loves were her son, Logan, and her husband, Lin. Her family meant the world to her. Kate loved going to live sporting events and was the number one fan of the New Orleans Saints. She was the queen of Who Dat Nation. On the weekends she loved going on dates with Lin, even if it was to Costco or Target. She just loved spending time together.
Kate was preceded in death by her mother, Janice McCormick, maternal grandparents Adrian and Ruby Gatlin and paternal grandparents Billy Adams and Shug Draper, grandfather Joseph McCormick, aunt and uncle Leslie and Steve Starkey, and uncles Bill and Jimmy Gatlin.
Kate is survived by her beloved husband Lin, son Logan, Logan’s father Jon, step children Brooke and Carter, father Larry Adams (Valerie), sister Adrianne Weaver (Keith), stepdad David McCormick (Rachel), Nana Joan McCormick, step-siblings David Speyrer (Chelsea), Kim Carter (Tom), and Tony Preston. Mother and father-in-law Susan and Bill Vinson, sister-in-law Ann Zweckbronner (Harry). Nieces Evie, Cici, Kira, Molly, Bee, and Grace and nephews Reid, Deven, Max, Ryan, and Nicolas. Adopted brothers Lane and Turner. Also several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kate leaves behind numerous friends including Karen, Jeanine, Elisa, Ashley, Teri and dozens more. Her village was both enormous and full of love.
Kate wanted to let everyone know, regardless of how long it’s been or where your paths have taken you, all are welcome to her celebration of life. It will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at the Grand Manor, 1450 Sarno Road in Melbourne, FL from 1:00PM to 5:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kate’s name to Matthew’s Hope, Brevard County or the Cocoa location Humane Society.
