He is survived by his wife and best friend of 65 years, Annetta (Ann) Fredericks, their 3 children, Jeanie, Ken Jr., and David. Ken (Papa) was blessed with 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Ken, Ann and their 3 children moved to Satellite Beach in 1969 for Ken to start his new career as the Band Director at Central Junior High school where he taught Music Education for 35 years. “Mr. Fredericks” as he was known to his students was loved so much that every year during the Christmas Holiday, a group of his former students would play Christmas carols on the front porch of his home for all to enjoy. Afterwards he would invite them in for Holiday cheer, and one (or two) his famous “Manhattans”. Ken was a gifted musician and as a young man began his career in New York City as a session drummer for many well-known musicians such as The McGuire Sisters, Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme, and Sammie Davis Jr. amongst others.
During his life Ken was active in the New York State Masons and the Azan Shriners Temple of Melbourne. Ken and Ann lived on DeSoto Parkway in Satellite beach where they raised their 3 children and 2 very large Great Danes (Bowser and Baron). He was also the President of the Satellite Beach Little League, and eventually the District Director for Brevard County.
“Mr. Fredericks”, “Dad”, “Papa”, was a loving, kind, and happy man. His smile, “Papa” jokes, and friendship will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Azan Shriners of Melbourne would be greatly appreciated.
A Graveside Service for Kenneth will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 S US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955.
