

Ken was born July 7, 1929 in Dalton, Georgia. At the age of 18, he moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he built his career and raised his family. He dedicated many years of his life to public service, including serving as Fire Chief in Highland Park, Michigan. After retiring, Ken and his wife, Willie, made Cocoa Beach, Florida, their home, where he continued his commitment to serving others as a Cocoa Beach City Commissioner.
Ken married the love of his life, Willie Mae Collins, on November 6, 1945, in Dalton, Georgia. Together they shared 69 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories until her passing.
Ken loved traveling, golfing, boating, and, perhaps most of all, singing. His love of music was an important part of his life and became something he shared with his family and passed down through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Ken will be deeply missed by his son Dennis (Linda) Griffin, and daughters Darlene Salzman and Darby Griffin; grandchildren Kori (Tom) Steigerwald, Michelle (Marc) Heikkila, Nicole (Wayne) Walker, Renee (Jeff) Henderson; and great grandchildren Luke, Noah, Katelyn, Charlotte, Payton, Ella, Nilo, and Olyva
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Willie Mae Griffin; and his parents Jesse and Rosebud Griffin.
A beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Ken lived a remarkable 97 years filled with family, service, and music. He touched many lives throughout his years and leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion to family that will continue for generations. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral Services will be held Friday. October 9th, 2026 at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 S. US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM, and entombment at 12:00 PM.
