His father, Edward Walters, who was a constable and his mother, Louise Walters, died at a young age and "Roy" as he was called was orphaned as a young boy and raised by his loving aunt, Hilda Gunter. Between playing with his many cousins and friends, he very much enjoyed his youth and did well in the parish schools.
When the winds of war descended upon the world, Roy was a teenager growing up in post depression era Jamaica and worked with and for the local municipality doing electrical and mechanical labors.
Mother England then came courting to her many colonies worldwide, including Jamaica, in need of manpower to fight back against the threats coming from Adolph Hitler and Germany.
Roy enlisted in the British Royal Air Force (RAF) during World War II and boarded a British ship in Jamaica and landed in London, England where he joined and met other young men from the West Indies. While in London, after the war, Roy met Eulah May Jones, another Jamaican, who he fell in love with and was also from the Manchester area of Jamaica.
Roy and Eulah married in London in the early fifties, started a family and plotted their way to New York City; first, to New York City's Harlem community then to the Bronx where they purchased a home and raised their children. Roy found a career with the Con Edison Utilities Company, where he worked for over thirty-five years.
Kenneth Roy and his wife, Eulah raised a family of four children in the Bronx and retired to Melbourne, Florida, where he lived until his death at 96 years of age on Sunday, August 14, 2022. He leaves behind his wife of 71 years; children, Kenneth, Jr., Robert and Wendell with Jennifer previously passing. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister in law, daughters in law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all too numerous to list.
Rest In Peace, Dad.
A visitation for Kenneth will be held Friday, August 19, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, Florida, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
