Khaled Said Youssef

Khaled Youssef, also known as Yoshi, born in Brooklyn on November 19, 1984, entered into rest on June 17, 2026, and was returned to the earth on June 27, 2026. He was the son of Isabel Ochoa and Said Youssef, a brother to Omar, a cousin, and a friend to many.

Khaled attended elementary school in Brooklyn and Queens, Daniel Carter Middle School, and Bayside High School, and graduated from The State University at Buffalo in 2008. After earning a Master’s degree in Education, he immediately began teaching with the New York City Department of Education. He has been a New York educator for nearly 17 years, starting at a Bronx Middle School and later teaching math, science, English, and sports at Van Buren High School.

Khaled will be greatly missed for the friendships he maintained and nurtured since high school and college. Throughout his adult years, he made many more friends with whom he traveled, shared holiday and birthday meals, attended weddings and baby showers, participated in gym workouts and sparring, his high school friends and work colleagues, and finally, the students whom he taught, mentored, and trained in various school sports.

Khaled sought and received his Christian Baptism and joined Iglesia Aposento Alto in Queens. This Spanish-speaking church began translating its program into English so Khaled would not miss any of the Bible messages read during the Sunday services he faithfully attended. As a result, he became an avid Bible proponent, sharing verses with other parishioners at the weekly Wednesday Bible Studies, thereby establishing a spiritual friendship with the church community.

More than one hundred and fifty family members and friends, including those from his church, gathered in New York on July 6, 2026, for a Yoshi’s Celebration of Life to share memories and anecdotes about their friend, many of whom called him “a brother.” On August 19, 2026, Khaled/Yoshi’s family and friends will meet again for a Celebration of Life in Florida, which he always visited to see his mother and called “his second home.”

Khaled would have become a father to the baby his fiancée, with God’s blessing, will deliver in November 2026. This father-to-be will be profoundly missed by both mother and child.

Khaled will be remembered as a loving and caring son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend to many. In his absence, he leaves behind the imprints of his love, kindness, friendship, smile, humor, and endearing presence.
