

Linda Neville James, age 97, of Merritt Island, Florida, left to be with Jesus in the late evening of February 14, 2022. Jesus was her true love and she spent her life serving others, always pointing back to Him.
Born in Breathitt County, Kentucky, she later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where she met her future husband, Luther James. She had a variety of jobs over the years from welder to food service provider. She and her husband moved to Merritt Island, Florida in 1961 where they raised their six children. Linda was an active member in her church Antioch Baptist Church. She taught a variety of Sunday school classes and found countless ways to serve those in her church body. Linda found joy in many things including her family, reading, cooking and sewing.
Linda was proceeded in death by her parents, James and Martha Barrett; her husband, Luther James; and her children, Carolyn Thigpen, Paul James and Dee James.
Linda is survived by her three sons and daughters in law: David and Martha James, Mark James and, Luther and Kaszie James. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
An indoor service will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 2-3pm at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL with a graveside service to follow on Monday, February 21, 2022 at 10am in Florida Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Linda’s name to the SPCA to honor her love of her many loyal four-legged friends.
